And so the Cool And Thoughtful newsletter is back full force! Miss us? We missed you. Recent lessons learned include: the importance of creating your experience (you have a say in how in interpret what's happening around you!), the importance of having just one cup of coffee (because then it's something special and you can fall asleep looking forward to it), and the importance of putting your intention on things that further your goals (because goals are one of the secrets to making life meaningful and the best way to curb anxiety).
A JOYFUL SHARE: HAVE YOU SEE THE NEW WEBSITE LATELY? COOL AND THOUGHTFUL HAS RELAUNCHED AS A MOVEMENT AND OUR MEDIUMS OF CHOICE ARE EDITORIAL CONTENT, THIS NEWSLETTER, AND A WORKSHOP COMING 2020.
We've spent the past six months going deep on Cool And Thoughtful profiles, in-depth conversations with creatives & entrepreneurs who exemplify what it means to be Cool And Thoughtful. The time with these people is always deeply moving, for there's a way in which they see life that reminds us all of what it means to have gentle power. Pictured above: scenes from a CAT profile with Alexis Badiyi (all puns intended) - see her profile here.
The secret to making dreams come true - is to operate in alignment with yourself, and the key to that kingdom is to honor your word. What exactly does that mean? It means respecting the promises you make to yourself and to other people, it means doing what you know in your heart is the right thing to do, it means keeping your agreements with yourself and with others - or remaking them in a responsible manner, which includes being upfront when you won’t be keeping an agreement. It means holding yourself accountable for what you tell yourself is important, and not selling out on the things you promise when you know deep in your heart that those promises are the ones that matter.
We've teamed up with Xandra Robinson-Burns of Heroine Training for the CAT Quotidienne column, a monthly essay that draws out one of the ephemeral, magical, but Definitiely-Real nuances of being Cool And Thoughtful. Quotidienne 002 was about Really Meaning It: "When we Really Mean It, we are not going through the motions or reciting the script. If we’re following a trend, or starting one, it’s not on purpose. What we are doing on purpose is being truthful. "Side effects may include appearing to be chic, or appearing to be a cliché. Standing out, but not for the attention." Take a read here.
CATching all the sounds (sorry, had to) - every once and a while an album drops and there is a cataclysmic WAIT, THIS IS SO GOOD moment that will set off a flurry of texts to the people you think will get it. This is what happened last Sunday night when we stumbled into the Soundcloud jackpot of Mahalia's new album - go listen and text your people. While we're talking music, I've recently listened to this mix 4 times in one day (and memorized the best drops: 19:41, 44:12).
October moods: structured bike shorts with oversized sweatshirts, days that feel like summer but look like fall, asking questions in a conversation, winter squash, doing your makeup while sitting on the floor, glitter socks, favorite magazines, listening in order to learn something.
